Even at a young age a boy will worry about if a girl likes him or not. Even if it's his own sister or mother. Men & boy's are always looking for the recognition of a female. It somehow fills the void of their mother's love....whether or not the male had a good relationship with his mother, he will always be looking for that female recognition...
